Vick’s Dogs, One Year Later

Just about one year ago, Michael Vick rose to infamy when a police investigation uncovered that the football star had been running a dogfighting ring. Most Americans were unaware that dogfighting was even happening in their own country, and the case helped to educate the public about the thriving, violent bloodsport.

Today, the fate of Vick’s 50 confiscated fighting dogs is just as eye-opening as the original case. Despite being abused, tortured and malnourished, most of the animals are overcoming the stereotype of the vicious pit bull and are being rehabilitated — not just physically, but emotionally, as well.
